We All Find It Hard to See

It may overwhelm you, dear Asha, to hear that I want you and nothing more.

Don’t take it to mean there’s a discount on my heart though, or that I wish to abridge any lengthy story about how it came into being.

My expertise just so happens to be making love to you while we watch a show about Mars and how they want to explode a bomb on it to turn it into another human palace.

I could go into more detail but the welfare of us creatures here is more important, and so that’s why I climb the staircase to get to you.

And later, when you take a powder, I will draft this piece in hopes that it will communicate something about how I feel about seeing you walk away naked.

I’d give you a ring — yes I would, if it would keep you here but it wouldn’t.

The hill to climb with you is steep, and I may need an officer’s help to get me there.

In the morning, I snack on a biscuit — it’s about as passive of a protest you can find. I know there’s this war and that war going on but my desire for you is a greater infection.

I can mutter about how it’s all madness but that won’t reproduce the true nature of art that I’m going for.
