I’m worried about you texted Jazlyn Ware, Jackson’s ex-girlfriend. The buzzing woke him up to find himself alone, John nowhere to be found.

Aint that something, Jackson thought. She broke up with me and now she’s the one who’s worried.

Leave me alone was what he wanted to text her back but instead he decided to go with Really?

Really she responded.

Do you want to meet? Jackson responded.

Sure she answered.

Jackson went out into the living room where he saw a note from John which read:

Dear Jackson,

Sorry to cut out on you like that but I have an audition this morning. Help yourself to whatever you can find. I’ll check in with you later.

John

Jackson’s head was still spinning from the day before and he needed a distraction. What could be more distracting than an ex-girlfriend?

Jackson met Jazlyn for coffee at Wild Soup, a breakfast and lunch place around the corner from her apartment.

“So, what have you been up to?” she asked.

A smile came across his face. Yes, an actual smile. He thought about his new lover who was, the obvious aside, nothing…
